ATORIAN GLOSSARY

Agika: homeworld of the Tagonican aliens and headquarters of the merchant company Taginglomerate (TGE); population 10 billion. It is located in the Liloqua Quadrant of the Milky Way Galaxy. The Atorian Empire hates the TGE and is secretly planning on bombing their homeworld during their next Expansion Phase. However, the leadership of TGE has begun cleverly dispersing its operations across the Milky Way Galaxy to prevent such a crippling attack.

Altess: uber-wealthy aliens, they are typically neutral in galactic affairs but lean towards the FAR against the aggressive Atorians. Secretly, the Atorian Empire plans on attacking the Altess Dynasty during its next Expansion Phase along with the FAR. However, this will only enrage the 7 billion Altess, who will surely unleash their devastating robot armies and ultra-advanced robot warships against the Atorians, while also formally joining the FAR against the Empire.

Astrofauna: this is a catch-all word for interstellar lifeforms (not necessarily intelligent) that can travel through the hostile environment of space under their own power. The Craydor space bourne alien-ships in the Atorian Empire are a good example of these types of deep-space wildlife. There are a dozen examples of this type.

Atorian Brain Chip: a generational memory recorder implant. This technology has dramatically increased the success of the Atorian Empire by preserving their memories in a cybernetic implant surgically added to the base of the skull. It makes a record, a copy, of a persons memories and thoughts; a version of the person that outlives the body. Nothing that the previous owner of the implants' mind is ever lost. Apparently it takes a bare minimum of 3 months to integrate a chip into a new transplantee, with 12 months being the more acceptable time-frame, otherwise mental insanity is the result. This brain chip is small, the size of a joint of a humanoid thumb and only the Atorian Empire can construct these remarkable cybernetic items.

Atorian Empire: this vast interstellar state is the single most powerful and influential force in the Milky Way Galaxy! For more than a thousand years this female-dominated empire has expended, forging alliances and developing advanced military technologies that quickly made them a galactic powerhouse. When a planet is absorbed into the Empire (either by invasion or alliance) a Atorian Lady or duchess is giving it as a holding. She totally runs the planet and leads the native government; the Atorian Empire is currently ruled by six Empresses and each has complete control over their sector of the Empire. They communicate frequently with one another and each Empress has a planet in their sector that they have chosen as their Throneworld. With over a million inhabited star systems under their control, the Atorians have an enormous amount of resources, planets, and personnel at its disposal and they use this to continue their expansion across the Milky Way Galaxy in a series of enlargements called Expansion Phases.

Atorian Delnotka Clan: this clan are the defenders and keepers of the peace for the Atorian Empire. They are the equivalent of Homeland Security and a massive police force. Like honorable knights of old, they represent the order and civility of the Imperial way.

Atorian Nae Chi Clan: this clan are the strong willed. They are mystical monks with a calm and wisdom everyone in the Empire respects. The nae chi act as advisors to many of the important nobles of the Empire and can double as capable body guards if the need arises; however, the true gift of this clan is rarely understood fully by their sister clans, for the spirits of the nae chi are mystically tied to the strength of the Empire. If the Empire thrives in a region, they are pillars offering support, but should it fester or corrupt, they grow sick and may collapse and die with the Empire.

Atorian Phidae Clan: this clan are the historians and lore keepers of the Atorian Empire, but they are also all sorceresses, which gives them a big punch no other clan has.

Atorian Seelain Clan: this clan are the diplomats, artists and cultural heart of the Atorian Empire. They are elegant, with a grasp of politics and etiquette far more refined than any of the other clans.

Atorian Shivaen Clan: this clan are the warriors of the Atorian Empire. They are the guardians of the borders and the soldiers in the field when the Empire goes to war. Theirs is the oldest official clan and the most powerful, if not influential. All shivaen are strong and tough with access to the best equipment and augmentations in the galaxy.

Atorian Thana Clan: this clan are the Atorian secret police. They are all psionicists and use telepathy and other talents to weed out the enemies of the Empire, quite often from among there own people. Feared and respected for their abilities and the role they play within the Empire, few Thana are ever called friend by members of the other clans.

Atorian Throneworlds: ruling a titanic empire the size of the Atorians' empire takes a great deal of effort, so the leaders of the Empire have divided their space into six areas and have appointed six Empresses to rule each as a fairly independent fief. Within their sectors, each Empress has a planet that she has chosen as her throneworld. These planets are typically located deep within the Empire and are well-protected by vast numbers of military spacecraft and millions of soldiers. The original Fehran homeworld was destroyed during the first Expansion Phase of the Empire by hostile forces, which were eventually wiped out.

Axien Accords: a diplomatic agreement signed by the Atorian Empire at the end of the Fifth Expansion Phase; it promised that the Atorians would no longer genocidally bombard planets from orbit. Of course whether or not the Atorians actually will abide by the Accords is debated within FAR circles. During the 5th Expansion Phase the Atorians dropped antimatter bombs on a dozen worlds to force the surrender of the defenders, sparking outrage among the galactic community. This is a voluntary treaty signed by the Atorians to try and buy goodwill; no other interstellar power forced them to adopt this agreement.

Ballistic Gel: designed for rapid orbital entry of troops onto a planet, it instantly forms and then dissolves in seconds, allowing ground troops to land on a planet by the thousands, without the need for traditional landing craft. Developed and solely used by the Atorian armed forces.

Bioteknia: the government of the Atorians has created and owns all sex robots (bioteknia) within the Empire. Since the female Atorians run things, they have built sex robots mainly for the use by males within the Empire, mainly to prevent demands by males on females for sexual congress. Heavy fines or banishment from the planets surface can result if a sex robot is seriously damaged when rented.

Borrilians: as the Atorians strip-mine their homeworld, these low-tech aliens have begun a (fruitless) guerrilla war campaign against the "sky invaders". The natives are baboon-like and highly militant but luckily their homeworld is just inside the Atorian Empire borders, making it easy for FAR agitators to drop weapons to the rebels. So far this has proven almost totally useless against the more advanced (and determined) Atorian garrison troops.

Borrilium: a metallic ore critical to the Atorian Empire and found in only one place in the galaxy, on a jumbo-sized planet called Borril.

Bulanese: MORE HERE SOON

Burzzad: a bird-like client race of the Atorians. They are extremely violent and enjoy combat, with millions serving in the Atorian Empire military. They have a horrific tendency of pecking out the internal organs of injured and captured soldiers while on the battlefield.

Carina-Sagittarius Arm: a major arm of the Milky Way Galaxy, it is the location of most of the worlds of the TGE and the FAR.

Cargo Wormhole: first constructed a hundred years ago by the Atorians, this type of artificially-created wormhole is an AI-controlled facility that transports cargo from planet to planet, without using a ship or standard (natural) wormhole. These facilities are immense, the size of a small town and organic lifeforms are unable to transit through the wormhole and survive. Initially cargo wormholes were used to send non-biological cargo to various star systems located nearby using an artificially created wormhole. The first prototype was constructed on the planet Shasszis Prime, deep within the Atorian Empire and they have expanded its use to dozens of nearby worlds. Used as a weapon, this super-tech device could deal the enemies of the Atorians a huge blow on the battlefield by being able to transport weapons nearly anywhere. In addition, Atorian scientists believe that they will eventually be able to send organic material (and troops) through a wormhole, thus vastly increasing the military power of the Empire. However, most races cannot withstand wormhole travel without dying, hence each race within the Empire has been given a Warp Rating (1-4, with 4 being the most able to endure it).

Carnivorous Lichen of Mbridlengile: used as a torture device by the Atorians, they can eat anything (no creature is safe from them) and they're incredibly tough. They can survive at any temperature and in any atmosphere as long as there is something for them to dine upon. To the lichen, to eat is to breathe. Like certain primitive invertebrates, the lichen bridge the narrow gap between plant and animal. They live in colonies of hundreds of thousands of individual cells. Though the cells themselves do not possess senses as they are known to higher animal species, each cell is capable of absorbing chemical data from its immediate surface and transmitting it to the rest of the colony. In this way, the colony as a whole can be said to 'see' its environment, even in the absence of light. The colonies are ambulatory, although they are much slower than most animals. They can eat thru almost anything.

Chigogi Neutral Zone: a vast area located between the FAR and Atorians, it is heavily patrolled by both sides and "incidents" are common. Military strategists believe this region of space will likely be the frontlines of the next war between the FAR and the hostile Atorian Empire, and they are building defenses with that in mind.

Chlorzi War: a enigmatic race, the methane-breathing Chlorzi were a reptilian species located in Les Iban Quadrant. The Atorians stumbled across a Chlorzi colony world and frontier fleets were quickly mobilized while a Empire diplomatic team was sent in. War between the two powers broke out in 270 IR when negotiations failed and lasted an amazing 28 years due to the tenacity of the Chlorzi commanders. The Chlorzi were eventually overwhelmed, their homeworld occupied, and they were forced to give up their colonies. The famous "Last Fleet" of 137 Chlorzi ships, ranging from small freighters to full-sized colony vessels, fled towards FAR space, seeking a safe haven for Chlorzi propagation. It was during the last stages of this war that the Empire began deploying space fighters and strike carriers in large numbers for the very first time. Aware of their plight, the FAR leadership eventually gave a new homeworld to the Chlorzi, who have become some of their most vocal (and militant) supporters.

City-Planet: a city-planet is generally considered to be a world that is covered pole-to-pole with one large mega-city. The population of these type of worlds typically are in the hundreds of billions, with several like the planet Mycos being in the trillions in population. They are vast prizes to be captured and controlled, producing enormous sums of money through taxation.

Codex, The: the Growth Codex or Registry of Citizens Codex, is a ancient artifact that creates the genetic makeup of the artificially incubated babies within the Atorian Empire. It is vital in designing a child's genetic attributes before his or her birth. The Codex is needed in order to shape the genetic future of the Atorian population; something that cannot be left to random chance in the minds of the female supremacists that rule the Empire. It travels from Throneworld to Throneworld every other year and is always heavily escorted.

Compressed Matter Armor: first developed by the Atorians, the process to make it is still a secret to this day, and only the Imperial Navy has it mounted only on its capital warships. This type of armor is many times stronger than most standard spaceship seen today in the Milky Way Galaxy, which gives them a devastating advantage on the battlefield.

Consortium of Worlds (CoW): a small alliance of planets located between the FAR and the Atorian Empire. They are strictly neutral when it comes to issues involving those two interstellar powers.

Conquered Races (by Atorians): MORE HERE SOON Anirii, Ashulli, Avii, Bocerri, Drishti, Dwovakian, Foleri, Froese, Girval, Gythal, Hosht’a, Hygari, Iviryn, Mirgan, Neetens, Nelarian, Othalli, Qati, Ter'Oroi, Uzwulii, Yoruta MORE HERE SOON

Core Powers: at the center of the Milky Way Galaxy lies the Core, a extremely volatile region of space filled with almost half the stars in the galaxy. Here some of the most ancient alien races dwell. These powerful beings are almost always completely inward-looking, refusing to interact with other aliens outside the Core region of the galaxy. However a select few (like the Mesharanon, the Lians, and the Wendira Swarm) occasionally converse with lesser races outside the Core. Eventually most of these intellects eventually end up "evolving" to higher planes of existence, although several have actually "devolved" (the most notorious being the Gabbleducks).

Cosmic Engineering: dyson spheres, dyson bubbles, and dyson swarms, ringworlds, topopolis (spaghetti world), artificial worlds, star lifting techniques, planet moving, matrioshka brains (m-brains), jupiter brains (j-brains) MORE HERE SOON

Craydor: these giant space creatures are a race of biomechanoid living ships that inhabit the Milky Way Galaxy. Their race was created by an unknown alien race millenia ago and they spawn in the various gaseous nebulas in Les Iban and Liloqua Quadrants. They are regularly used as transports by the Atorians and even prison ships used to move their cargo of captives from different sites. In order to ensure loyalty, these Craydor are often fitted with a control collar in order to restrict their actions and independence. These large creatures are often described as being a biomechanoid vessel, that are effectively a living creature. They are distinctively divided into two genders, namely male and female. Typically, a Craydor enters into a symbiotic union with a species known as Pilots who sit in a permanent fixed state in a central hub onboard the vessel. Despite this being the case, it is possible to cede manual control to any crew of the ship. Furthermore, these living vessels are known to also rely on crewmembers in a mutual symbiotic relationship. There are Six Forbidden Cargoes that these living ships cannot carry since they affect their internal organic processes. The single defensive maneuver that Craydor are capable of accomplishing was Starburst but once made, it cannot be re-initiated until it has restored their energy reserves, which often take hours.

Cres: a reptilian client race of the Atorian Empire. They comprise nearly 10% of the Empires' troopers and are infamous for their despicable battlefield behaviors.

Contra-Terren Device(CTD): this weapon is a multi-teraton warhead comprised mostly of antimatter. Used only by the Atorian Empire, typically against populated planets to force their surrender. It is theorized by FAR defense officials that only one location in the Empire produces these dangerous warheads, a site that is....MORE HERE SOON

Dansall Minor: one of six Atorian Throneworlds, this planet was once a thriving vegetation world but a recent asteroid impact has laid waste to much of the planets ecosphere. In defiance, a new Atorian capital city has been built in the impact crater.

Dionii: this alien race is composed of four species of insects, combining to create a powerful warlike society bent on expansion and intergalactic dominance of all other life. The four insect species are the victors of a great interracial conflict, in which they proved to be the strongest of their people. As with all Dionii battles, there was no place for the weak; thus, all other species (some 37 intelligent insect species) were annihilated. Total genocide. The four victorious Dionii types are the Drone, Warrior Beetle, Scout, and Vanguard. They also have the largest military in the Milky Way Galaxy and frequently come into conflict with the Atorian Empire. The Dionii have colonized thousands of worlds and have a estimated population of over 100 trillion. They have no allies; all races oppose them.

Draconids: a huge militarized astrofauna lifeform, all Draconids are born and die in space, and they are heavily armed and armored; a left-over from some previous unknown ancient war. Several hundred of these aliens exist, most are the size of small asteroids and nearly all are available for war: they accept military contracts by the highest bidder and can switch sides if the price is right. This fickleness on the battlefield sometimes makes them undesirable allies.

Dragon: an ancient moon-sized alien biomech. Its motives and aims are often opaque but sometimes it can be "hired" for special missions. He is a Draconid and a Apex Alien. Currently, Dragon is attacking forces inside the Atorian Empire.

Dreklors: a significant client race of the Atorian Empire, they gladly serve in the Atorian Armed Forces and are known for their viciousness against other alien races.

Dreya: a humanoid slave race of the Atorian Empire, these aliens are popular servitors in society circles.

Dushau: these aliens are the galaxies premier ecologists, called in to evaluate new potential colonies or to help repair ecological damage to a planets' biosphere. They are tall blue-skinned bipeds that are brilliant and their fees are very high, but they are worth it. They only claim one planet (their homeworld); it is located on the fringe of Atorian space.

Dyson Spheres: there are three massive dyson spheres located in the Milky Way Galaxy. One is dominated by the "Horseheads", a ancient "retiring race" that has recently come into conflict with the Atorian Empire. Another dyson sphere is located in the Lower Orion Arm Spur and is an ancient artifact, built but abandoned by the Keter. The final dyson sphere is located in Core of the Galaxy and is the home of the Wendira Swarm.

Earth: a world located far from the Atorian Empire and Federation of Allied Races (in the backwater Ilta Quadrant of the Milky Way Galaxy), it is in a region protected by the TMC. Earth has little appeal to most space faring people; it is comparatively low-tech, politically divided, socially unstable, and has the x-factor of being populated by a number of superhumans. However, humans have a warp rating of 4, making them very useful for shock troops when combined with transit wormholes.

Elkhat: this alien gas giant race are highly xenophobic (and genocidal) and they inhabit one third of the Milky Way Galaxy, with most of their worlds being within Atorian space. They are the primary reason the Atorians are extremely advanced in military technology; brutal wars between the Atorians and the Elkhat have pushed weapons R&D in both races. These aliens have evolved deep within gas giants and they are also divided into four separate warring factions. They rarely interact with oxygen breathing races. MORE HERE SOON

Evolution Apex: a term that means when an alien race reaches the ultimate tech level they can possibly achieve, when their lifespan becomes infinite, when their biological advancement stalls, and they loose any need to reproduce. Many races go through this biological cycle, only to gradually diminish in numbers and fade from the galaxy. Most people believe that this is what Nature intends, continuing an endless galactic (or even universal) cycle of life. The majority of most races die out before reaching this apex of evolution, but the final generation of each race that live forever (if they aren't killed by accident, illness, or intent) sometimes linger on in obscurity for millions of years. Both the Atorian Empire and the FAR has encountered a few of these powerful beings during their rise to galactic civilization.

Fabric, the: is a term for the sub-layer of space accessed by a vast network of artificial nodes that stretches out across the entire Milky Way Galaxy. The Fabric was built by an unknown ancient race, countless millennia of years ago. Each node, or ‘super-luminal transceiver’ (to give them their official designation) is connected to the others through engineered wormholes called "threads". Together, it creates a patchwork quilt of connected super-luminal transceivers that spans most of the known galaxy, hence the name, the Fabric. The Fabric also acts as a super-highway for faster-than-light navigation for vessels that travel its lanes. It also makes it possible to jump extremely long distances from node to node (like express lanes between railway stations). The alternative is to spend hours or sometimes days using conventional FTL systems, which also have a far more limited range. Very few aliens use the Fabric for FTL travel, mainly because they don't know about it, and its the one strategic tool that the Atorian Empire has used over and over again to subdue its neighbors.

Fanrats, the: a large group of semi-nomadic pirates who have engaged in all-out raids against the Atorian Empire, the Fanrats currently are located on the Hogg Moons and are made up of numerous races who have grievances against the Atorians. They have hundreds of spacecraft capable of raiding deep into Atorian space. Using small, lightly armed ships, these pirates would raid cargo vessels and sometimes passenger liners and then sell their ill-gotten gains on a dozen fringe worlds. High profile individuals will sometimes be held for ransom, but most people who fall into the pirates hands became slaves (a fate often worse than death). Eventually the Atorian government got tired of these attacks and sent the Imperial Navy after them. Even after years of searching, the Atorians have been unable to discover the hiding place of the pirates, in the Hogg Moons (located deep in FAR space).

Freighnars: the Freighnar Commonwealth was a conglomerate of several worlds obtained with the support of other nearby races but the Freighnar's had tremendous difficulty maintaining their sophisticated technology, especially jump drive. When the Atorian Empire contacted the Freighnar Commonwealth in 988 IR trade between Freighnar worlds had dropped to nearly non-existent levels as jump drives failed and were not repaired. Five years after contact the Freghnar's had been assimilated into the Empire, the first peaceful takeover of an alien race in the Empire's long history.

Ivy League: these once independent planets have always had a strong environmental streak and once conquered by the Atorian Empire these ideas began to spread. Now, nearly a third of the Empire has grown these preservation practices, forcing the Atorian Duchesses' to change some of their worst planetary policies, especially the conversion of whole worlds into Energy Planets.

Jain Technology: an invasive picotechnology developed by an ancient dead race - the Jain. Its apparent sole purpose is to spread through interstellar civilizations and annihilate them. It is considered ultra-deadly WMD weaponry and is banned on all worlds and star systems. It can mainly be found in obscure star systems within the Atorian Empire.

Jerjerrod Ringworld: discovered nearly a millennia ago by Atorian scouts, this object (referred to by Atorian scientists as a starband) is a unfinished ringworld. It is located deep in Atorian space. Luckily, despite hundreds of years of study and research, the Atorian Empire has been unable to replicate the totally impenetrable foundation of the starband, a material known as scrith.

Kordite: a metal mineral used in high-grade military shield technology. This extremely valuable mineral can be found on nearly a dozen worlds spread across the Milky Way Galaxy. It is used primarily by the Atorian Empire for developing heavy shield grids for their capital warships.

Korvus Treaty: a interstellar agreement between most major space-going nations. The treaty was designed to protect "younger" species from exploitations by existing interstellar powers. It creates a 10 light year radius around a developing species homeworld that cannot be violated by outside forces. The crux of the treaty is that these undeveloped races are not to be interfered with until they develop a FTL system on their own. The Atorian Empire is the only major power that has refused to sign the Korvus Treaty.

Liax: a major client race of the Atorian Empire, MORE HERE SOON

Lorila: located deep in Atorian Space, this desolate planet is the location of the Doors of Lorila, which were built by an unknown race millenia ago. Hundreds of these "time portals" exist on Lorila, all reaching back into the distant past. Atorian researchers and scientists are unable to use the Doors due to a sentient AI guarding against ill intent, but they can and do record past histories of hundreds of planets. In the unlikely event that the Atorians were ever able to crack the defenses of the AI Guardian, the historical past of the Milky Way Galaxy could be forever altered.

Maardat Civil War: after many years of ineffective warfare, the Maardat Revolutionary Group (MRG) forged an alliance with the powerful criminal Benini Family and the influential corporation Borst Enterprises. They began to move against the government-dominated Yoruta family in 1290 IR in an effort to finally rid the Maardat System of their corrupt influence. Supported by Belotti Power Sats, HiberShip, but only a few of the local populace, the Yoruta family was ill-prepared for the conflict. Moving quickly, the rebels assaulted the fortified lands of the Yoruta family with former disgruntled military personnel, killing all but two of the Yoruta. The terrorist Democratic Underground Army (DUA) was also extremely active at this time and stepped up it's attacks on government officials, actually assassinating the sitting Atorian Governor in 1299 IR. Several Atorian Regency Council members were also killed while visiting Maardat during the desperate power struggle to overthrow the government and the fighting escalated rapidly after that. Within a few months widespread nuclear strikes devastated the Maardat System and the Atorian Navy finally halted the fighting in 1305 IR. Over 185 million Maardat civilians were killed during the fighting and the government lost their first large-scale colonization ship (with 85,000 colonists in hibernation on board!), 87 orbital power satellites, a experimental antimatter extraction array in solar orbit, dozens of Maardat warships, forty-four orbital workshacks and farms, and the Majoris Gas Giant refining stations. The resulting devastation dropped the Maardat System from a high-technology society to near pre-industrial levels.

Mendra: a important slave race of the Atorian Empire, they are brilliant mathematicians and every Atorian capital ship has at least one Mendra Navigator on board. Unfortunately, the Mendra come from a hellish thermal world and are forced to use massive mechanical environmental suits whenever they leave their section of the ship.

Motherhome: the homeworld of the Wulfen people, it is located between the FAR and Atorian space. It is also the capital of the Ancient Wulfen Empire; population 10 billion.

Mycos: the Milky Ways' largest populated planet, with 20 trillion citizens, Mycos is also the galaxy's biggest market for commercial goods, foodstuffs, weapons, and technological items. Located between the FAR and the Atorian Empire, the planets' leadership has always tried to carefully plot a course of neutrality between the two superpowers. Recently, however, the top secret Atorian plans for the invasion of Mycos has made its way into the Mycos Councils' hands, and they are not happy. With that in mind, a massive emergency order of robotic warships, orbital weapons, and automated defenses (including planetary force fields!) has been promptly ordered by the Mycos Ruling Council. In addition, a economic boycott of the Atorian Empire is seriously being considered by the Mycosian leadership.

Mycos Leader: Governor Bett Farris is the powerful governor of the planet Mycos, a high-population world located between the FAR and the Atorian Empire. She is the wife of Warlord Sels Farris and a popular planetary leader, as well as head of the influential Farris family. Lately, she has had to deal with an estimated 200 billion unemployed people sloshing around the planet in search of work. These immense levels of unemployment has provided a pool of capable and willing followers for an armed underground leader known as the Demon, who preaches violent change and leads the Undercity Revolt. This is especially important since only substantial change would improve the stagnant economy of Mycos and bring new prospects for the young and ambitious.

Nexus: a ultra-top-secret military facility located deep within the Atorian space, the Nexus is the location of the CoreNet, a broad-ranging interstellar computer network built by the Atorian Empire. Through this small planetoid the Atorians regulate the operations of the billions of robots (simulants) in service on the innumerable ships, space stations, and planets within the Empire. It is a super-luminal transmitter and receiver that acts like a hive mind for the lobotomized simulants. It allows them to perform the many complex and varied functions that are essential or the smooth functioning of the Empire. Everything from farming, to medical skills, to starship piloting are possible only because of the Nexus. Without it there would be no simulants, and possibly no Atorian Empire.

Omega Battery: location of strategic weapons (WMD) on a warship, and rarely used. These ultra-deadly warheads can be anything from antimatter, protomatter, teraton or dis warheads, or planet/sunkiller weapons. Most interstellar navies have capital ships that mount Omega Batteries; they are never found on smaller warships.

Orion Arm: a backwater region of the Milky Way Galaxy, neither the FAR nor the Atorian Empire has explored into the area. It is the location of Earth, and the Thissera-Micean Cooperative (TMC).

Outworlds Alliance (OA): a small alliance of worlds located between the FAR and the Atorian Empire. The OA consists of a dozen major worlds and three dozen minor ones and is unofficially allied with the FAR. Some of the more important worlds within the AO are Mycos, Santanni, and Hilversun.

Picotechnology: technology using objects on the picoscale (quantum level). This involves nucleons and other elementary particles doing useful work, involving quantum effects. Unlike nanotechonology, picotechnology has been only in limited use within the Atorian Empire for a few years.

Proe System: a high-population planet that was conquered during the Atorian Fifth Expansion Phase, it has been wracked by civil conflicts ever since.

Proe Uprising: this brutal war began in 876 IR when guerillas on the planet Proe, after years of assassinating key opponents, hitting isolated army posts, and conducting urban hit-and-run raids, finally overthrew the Atorian System Governor. A similar uprising in the nearby Delenky System also succeeded in throwing out Empire rule, provoking a military response from the Atorian armed forces. After two years of constant economic and military pressure, as well as extreme violence, the uprisings were eventually put down. Atorian military officers purged the local armed forces by "decapitation"; removing the admirals and generals and assumed control themselves, ensuring the loyalty of the junior officers at gunpoint. Pro-FAR pirates have continually delivered arms to the rebels, despite Atorian efforts to intercept these shipments.

Renterre: this city-planet is the capital of the Terrene Worlds, it was raided by the Atorian Empire before they collectively joined the FAR. Since then, these human-dominated worlds have become stable and immensely wealthy. With a population of over 100 billion people, Renterre is.....MORE HERE SOON

Reptalons: a militant reptile race that gladly serves the Atorian Empire.....MORE HERE SOON

Sellun Prime: one of six Atorian Throneworlds, this planet is one Earth-like planet but its natural resources have been depleted and most of the surface is covered by vast cities and manufacturing facilities.

Shadow Empress: at the death of the first Empress Alimira Constance, a secret society within the Empire cloned her and began a shadow government. She and her genetically pure clones have ruled over a 1,000 years, directing a secret parallel government that is intent on bringing down the six "upstart" Duchesses and placing herself back on the ultimate throne of the Empire. Hundreds of years of stealthy sabotage and undermining of the Atorian government has yielded only moderate results. Luckily for the Shadow Empress, the rest of the Atorian Empire is unaware of the existence of this organization, the only group that could truly stop the Empires' inexorable march across the galaxy.

Shaking Plague: in 444 PE the Shaking Plague (a Atorian specific disease) broke out on the planet Frispet, killing over 200 million people. Spreading quickly to other planets within the Empire, it killed more than 50 billion Atorians before it was contained. This virulent outbreak led the Empire to change the way interstellar travel was done, halting the rapid spread of the disease and making containment much more likely. Its effects also abruptly ended the First Atorian Expansion Phase. To this day, Atorians across the Empire dread this disease.

Sheherezad: one of six Atorian Throneworlds, it is dominated by incredibly large volcanos the size of small continents. As a result, the planet is a hellish thermo-world. MORE HERE SOON

Shell Wars of 1025 IR: a massive conflict in and around the Shell Dyson Swarm that lasted for almost a hundred years, the current generation of the Atorian Navy leadership cut its teeth during this war. The Shell Wars gave the admirals and generals of the Empire vital combat experience, which they will surely use against the FAR and other Atorian enemies in the future.

Shreen: MORE HERE SOON

Sigil League: a small alliance of worlds located between the FAR and the Atorian Empire. A military-allied star nation that opposes the Atorians. Some of the more important worlds within the League are Ebosskil, Santanni, and the Frogstar System.

Simulants: a race of cloned bioroids, they are the hands and feet of the Atorian Empire, doing all the work that no one else wants to do. They also provide critical support within the Atorian armed forces. Finally, they provide sex work for many races within the Empire. All simulants are controlled by the Nexus.

Slipspace: MORE HERE SOON

Stellavore: a sun-eater, typically a ancient alien warship. Only two have even been sighted in the Milky Way Galaxy; both are incredibly deadly.

Steppenwolf World: slang term for a rogue planet, one without a star. It is estimated that there are more than 100+ billion steppenwolf planets in and around the Milky Way Galaxy, far more than there are stars. Most rogue planets are frozen and dead but occasionally an interesting alien race or technology can be found on these wandering worlds. It is theorized that every star system spits out a large number of these worlds early on in their development into more stable star systems.

Supertechnology: MORE HERE SOON

Tagonicans: this alien race are evolved from birds from the planet Agika. They are a very advanced civilization, having a economic presence on over on million worlds across all four Quadrants of the Milky Way Galaxy. They are primarily involved in trade, financial diplomacy, and high-end research. This strong focus on the hard sciences has brought the Tagnonicans to a high level of technical achievement. They are a inquisitive people who find other beings, especially more primitive people, very interesting. They are economic partners with the Federation of Allied Races (FAR) and have boycotted the Atorian Empire for hundreds of years.

Tananites: a pacifist people whose' homeworld was invaded and brutally conquered by the Atorians in the Fifth Expansion Phase. They are renown for their massive cybernetic networks.

Temporal Shielding: a impressive super-technology possessed by the Atorians, these formidable shields shop virtually all mass-less and near mass-less weapons like lasers and force beams from striking a ship. All Imperial capital vessels have this and several other forms of shielding, including nuclear dampeners and antimatter suppressors. This field extends outwards for 100 meters from an enemy ship and can be enabled indefinitely, however primary beams can still punch through this powerful energy barrier. This form of shielding gives the Atorian Navy a huge advantage on the battlefield in space.

Terradonna-class Planetkiller: these immense moon-sized warships are only constructed by the Atorian Empire and it takes decades to fabricate one. Each Terradonna costs trillions and trillions of credits to build. So far, only six have been constructed and they are very effective fleet killers; they are also used as dedicated planetary siege platforms. Finally, they are never sent out un-escorted, typically being surrounded by hundreds of defensive cruisers and destroyers.

The Ska: super-powerful undead spaceships from a long-extinct civilization, these vessels are enormous, deadly, and virtually unstoppable. These dreadful warships and their soul-sucking weapons are used only by the Toogarth race and they are feared even by the Atorians.

Thropo: a militant alien race that is strongly allied with the Atorians. They are a race of aberrant, combat-orientated apes that resemble gorillas. The homeworld of the Thropo is a irradiated nightmare of their own making since their civilization was built without regard for the environment. The Thropo have adapted as they gradually polluted their home and are immune to many of its dangers. Their society has a twisted code of honor and birthrights, and they are a strong and steadfast member of the Atorian Empire. As such, they maintain a huge standing army, skilled in many forms of combat, strategies, and tactics.

Thurians: a reptilian client race of the Atorians, these militant aliens love being the henchmen for the cruel Atorians. They have a ugly reputation even among the more savage allies of the Atorians.

Tilari: a major client race of the Atorian Empire, they are expert bureaucrats and  can be found on every major world in the Empire, making the lives of everyone miserable at the hands of these petty government officials.

Troma Nydae: one of the largest terrestrial planets in the Milky Way Galaxy (it is easily ten times the diameter of Earth), Troma Nydae is largely covered with dense and vibrant jungles. Some civilizations might look at this place as a natural treasure and leave well enough alone, but not the Atorian Empire. To them, this world is good for lumber and coming up with hot, new biotechnology. Atorian scientists believe that the extreme bio-diversity of the planet's jungles makes Troma Nydae a gold mine for developing all sorts of pharmaceuticals. In fact, the planet is so incredibly rich in plant and animal life that these scientists stationed there hardly have to do any work to produce new wonder products. They need only understand the natural processes before them and figure out a means to industrialize them for export. It is like the deepest Amazon on a planetary scale. Aside from the Atorians living here, there are also dozens of underground merchants who are making a killing selling exotic merchandise to the extended galaxy.

Trillorium: a highly volatile gas that is used in antimatter production. Rumor has it that its only made in a single top-secret location, deep inside Atorian space.

Tygrans: a cat-like client race of the Atorians, most serve unwillingly within the Empires armed forces.

Ultra-UU class battleships: Atorian, MORE HERE SOON

Ultra-WW class battleships: Atorian, MORE HERE SOON

Uplift: the creation of new sapient species from animal stock. This practice is banned within the Atorian Empire.

Urbanos: covered from pole-to-pole with one immense never-ending city, this planet has a overall population of over one trillion sentient beings. It is also the civilian capital planet of the FAR. The Atorian Empire has war-gamed invading the FAR capital hundreds of times in anticipation of the next Expansion Phase.

Veer Skin-suit: made from "smart atoms", these military-grade skintight suits are light and flexible and can absorb a great deal of kinetic and electromagnetic energy. They were produced solely by the Veer and were only one hundred were sold once a year, for absolutely fabulous prices. However, when the Atorians bombed the Veer Homeworld, the survivors fled and began selling millions of these incredible protective devices to the enemies of the Atorians, the Federation of Allied Races (the FAR). Now, they can be found everywhere except within the Atorian Empire; when crossing the Empires' border the smart atoms automatically become inert, and the suits become unusable.

Vikelter: one of six Atorian Throneworlds, MORE HERE SOON

Vortimite: a metal critical for housing antimatter. Most sources of this mineral (98%) are found only in Atorian space.

Warp Commandos: newly created by the Atorian Empire, these specialized warfighters can transit through an active wormhole without the benefit of a ship, mainly to infiltrate enemy vessels, facilities, or bases and destroy critical systems, facilities, or assassinate key personnel. This warp system is currently emplaced upon a large test-bed mobile vessel and is able to move in and out of the battlefront. According to reports, this technology has not been fully fielded yet.

Warp Rating: when a living being enters a “wormhole” it is usually encased in a warship or other type of vessel, which surrounds and protects the body and mind of a person travelling in that odd dimension, but anyone sent directly into that space without benefit of such protection are in extreme danger. Its side effects are always devastating: usually instant death or insanity for any living being. However, sentient beings have the ability to endure entering the warped space of a wormhole, ranging from 1 (can only endure warp travel while sedated or unconscious) to 4 (can enter warp in a sealed suit and survive). Less than ten percent of most starfaring species are able to enter warp space like this (the average is closer to five percent) . Humans, for reasons not yet understood, are an extraordinary exception, with fifty percent of their population rated at level 3 or higher. Warp “commandos” have been created by the Atorian Empire and are undergoing field testing.

Warpath Virus: MORE HERE SOON

Warpath: a training world located in the Atorian Empire.....the Atorians....MORE HERE SOON

Wattasid Raiders: a wild faction of space-dwelling pirates, they were wiped out in 680 IR by the Atorian Empire. They were notorious for their ruthlessness and slave-taking.

Withaloo: this bird-like race have been loyal clients of the Atorians for hundreds of years, but recent changes in their internal politics has made them unstable. Every fifty years, the race is arbitrarily split into black or blue factions, and these factions physically fight until a winner is determined. The government is then selected from members of the victorious faction. This is occurring now, making the Withaloo a shaky Atorian ally.

Wreck of the Katerine Jeury: the Atorian starliner Katerine Jeury was the first victim in the war against the Wattasid Raiders, the name given to the pirates in Amukdan Sector who rose in the early days of the Empire. The Kate was carrying thousands of passengers when she was captured and destroyed in 658 IR. None of her passengers survived, leading to Atorian officials authorizing "pirate hunters" for the first time in it's history. The Wattasids were entirely wiped out during a thirty year crusade but their legacy of brutal piracy lives on in other like-minded organizations.

Wulfen Empire: the Wulfen Empire is a ossified, decaying polity of several hundred worlds. Its ancient history is catching up with the Wulfen as younger and more energetic races are now surpassing their once glorious achievements. Located between two massive interstellar empires (the FAR and Atorians) the odds are high that the Wulfen Empire will be caught between them during the next Expansion Phase, something no one is looking forward to since the Wulfen still have a mighty arsenal. While mostly passive now, the Wulfen would go on the warpath if their beloved homeworld (Motherhome) were damaged or destroyed during any conflict.

X'Ado: MORE HERE SOON

Yaemos: one of six Atorian Throneworlds, this planet suffers from both a frigid temperature and extremely high radiation. Only a vast amount of a vital mineral (helenium) makes this planet desirable.

Yalteen: one of the few gas giant-dwelling races within the Atorian Empire, they typically isolate themselves on supergiant worlds. They are well-known for being some of the galaxies best mathematicians. They are nominally allied with the Atorians.

Zede Worlds: a cluster of highly industrial (and highly militant) worlds located near the Core of the Milky Way Galaxy. During the last phases of the Fifth Expansion Phase they were brutally occupied by the Atorian Empire. For nearly five years the Zede successfully resisted the Atorian military, until ALL their worlds were bombed with antimatter weapons, turning them to ash and killing tens of billions of sentients. To this day the Zede Worlds industrial base lays in ruins.
