Dominion War: The Dominion War was a major interstellar conflict, fought from 2373 to 2375, though related conflicts began earlier. The war involved all major powers of the Alpha and Gamma Quadrants, organized into two opposing military alliances: the Alpha Quadrant Alliance (the Klingons, the Romulans, and the UFP) and the Dominion Alliance (the Breen, Cardassians, and the Dominion). Marked by massive military and civilian casualties, including the systematic destruction of the Cardassian population, and the mobilization of starship fleets on a massive scale, it was one of the bloodiest and most destructive wars in modern galactic history. Initially, the year 2371 was an anxious time for the powers of the Alpha Quadrant, as the threat posed by the Dominion on the far side of the Bajoran wormhole began to grow. The Jem'Hadar attacks in 2370, destroyed the Bajoran colony of New Bajor and the Starfleet ship USS Odyssey, and saw subsequent engagement between the USS Defiant and several Jem'Hadar fighters, revealed a ruthless, powerful empire determined to impose their version of order upon a chaotic galaxy. Although a full-scale invasion did not follow the initial first contact of the Jem'Hadar as was initially feared, war seemed to be inevitable. With these signs, the Alpha Quadrant powers immediately began to prepare for invasion. The United Federation of Planets (UFP) assigned the USS Defiant to Deep Space 9 at the mouth of the wormhole to bolster its defensive capabilities. The Federation also shared all of its intelligence with the Romulan Star Empire as per their treaty to allow a Romulan cloaking device to be installed on the Defiant. The Cardassian Union, occupied by its own internal and external concerns, remained relatively uninvolved but it was attacked by the Klingons in 2372. The Cardassian Unions' infrastructure was crippled by the Klingon invasion. This, coupled with political problems within the Cardassian Empire, prompted the general Gul Dukat to enter into secret negotiations with the Dominion. Acting as the Cardassian Empire's representative, Dukat negotiated Cardassia's entry into the Dominion and Dukat was named the new leader of Cardassia in 2373. The Dominion cold war would continue to escalate following this development, eventually culminating in the far-ranging Dominion War. MORE HERE SOON

Aethernet: a type of "telepathic internet" developed by the Contoon, it is used by a dozen highly-advanced worlds near the Chamra Nebula. Only peaceful races with sufficient technology are offered this service by the Contoon. The Aethernet system creates unique amicable social interaction among connected races. Starfleet observers say they've never seen anything like it in the Alpha Quadrant and worry how easily it could be infested by the Borg.
Allens' Giraffe: This giant animal is native to Allens' World, a planet located in the Candar Subsector. It has never been transplanted off-world but is popular for its mouthwatering meat; an adult slaughtered giraffe can yield up to 4 tons of meat and it freezes well. Royalty from a dozen different worlds keep this item in heavy demand.
Amniotic Tank: a complex medical system found only in the Gamma Quadrant, it is used primarily for rapid regeneration of body parts, especially limbs (arms and legs). The cost of using it varies from star system to star system, going from very affordable to exorbitant.

Automorphs: are a bizarre transhumanist movement situated on the high-population world Tolmelty. To the locals it is the art of self-transformation, usually using bioengineering and other genetic manipulation techniques. Some Automorphs go to extreme measures to stand out in their society, including many odd-looking appearances. Unfortunately, within the last decade Automorphs on Tolmelty have become quite violent in expressing themselves.
Bandar-Bixx: a hyper-intelligent artificial intelligence (AI) from the Calafat Subsector, it immigrated to the high-population world Coloron and is now a freelance agent specializing in criminal behaviour. "BB" has an impressive record of criminal convictions, including several high-profile drug kingpins. This has also made the AI an enemy target of the Gamma Quadrant Underworld, especially the all pervasive Brotherhood.

Battle of the Omarion Nebula: this attack was the first major armed engagement between forces of the Alpha Quadrant and the Dominion, as well as the only large-scale conflict to take place in the Gamma Quadrant. Acting on a plan originating with former head of the Cardassian Obsidian Order Enabran Tain, a combined fleet of twenty Cardassian and Romulan warships under the control of the Order and the Romulan Tal Shiar organization launched a preemptive strike on the Founders' homeworld in the Omarion Nebula. However, the effort had long been infiltrated by a Dominion agent and shortly after attacking the fleet was ambushed and destroyed by the Jem'Hadar, with few survivors. More detailed information is located here.
Bennites: A bug-like race from an massive volcanic world located in the Meramar Subsector, their homeworld (Bennaris) is completely inhospitable to most humanoids. The Bennites themselves are heavily armored with temperature-resistant chitin and most of the 2 billion population lives underground. Bennaris is a low-tech planet that trades exotic ores to offworlds.
Biotracer: a high-tech cybernetic gadget that continually monitors the health status of the implanted person. On some worlds it is used by police forces and other authorities to track the citizenry and criminals.
Bioweapons: Genetically engineering biological weapons can be created to attack and kill specific groups of alien races and even sub-species of those races. Within within the Dominion this science has reached its peak, offering very scary results to their enemies. Bioweapons are used by the Dominion frequently, but then only by the direction of the Founders. Very few races in the Milky Way Galaxy have the expertise in this area like the Dominion does.

Clone Mob, the: established 200 years before the discovery of wormhole by Starfleet, the Clone Mob was founded by Jax Maljek, an innovator in the creation of new illegal drugs and biopiracy in the early twenty-third century. Maljek built up a thriving criminal empire and wanted to see it continue, so he began creating clones of himself and training them for his organization. Since then, the clones have continued Maljek's work. Federation authorities estimate that as of 2340, the Clone Mob has approximately eighty thousand members, all as alike as brothers. The Clone Mob specializes in slavery (especially the creation of illegal clones of media stars), prostitution, the manufacture and sale of designer drugs, ecological sabotage for hire, and the violent quelling of dissent on restless colony worlds. What makes it so durable is the remarkable trust and cooperation among its members. No clone has ever betrayed the organization, and if the authorities arrest the senior leaders, or they get killed in gang warfare, other clones can take over smoothly. The organization has one major weakness, though — its members are easily recognized. Currently the Clone Mob operates mainly in the regions near the wormhole — within 100 light-years of it. It also sends operatives into Dominion space.

Coloron: a important high-tech world located in Klabba Subsector, this cyber-democracy is one of the few worlds that have shrugged off the regional economic collapse and has actually prospered. With a population of over 250 billion people, Coloron continually exports its unwanted excess population to nearby worlds. In addition, Coloron has an extremely effective anti-criminal justice system: any career criminals are sentenced to death and executed within a month of their crime taking place, and even the smallest of crimes results in mandatory deportation.
Contoon III: this planet is the homeworld of the alien race called the Contoon, a people who represent the ultimate in racial harmony. The Contoon have attained a highly advanced state of cooperation and peace. There are no wars among the Contoon and each of them treats every other person and race as an equal. The Contoon have no secret potion or magic solution for their enlightened state, saying that it took many millennia of hard work, understanding, tolerance and awareness to attain their present state of peace and wisdom. Rumors about divine influence and powerful alien intelligences are common among off-worlders.

Declan Keogh (Captain): A human born on Earth in 2320 AD, he joined Starfleet early on and eventually became a Captain in that organization by 2364 AD. He was also known as a hard partying womanizer during that time. After being too hung over to participate in a important away mission, he sent his assistant security chief in his stead. Tragically, the assistant and the entire team were killed in that mission: this led Keogh to decide that he needed to shape up, and he became a much more serious officer. During the 2350s Keogh was married to Maryanne Price (a Starfleet Admiral), however that marriage ended prior to 2370 AD. Captain Keogh was eventually named Captain of the USS Odyssey (a Galaxy-class starship) in 2365 AD. Throughout his career, Keogh was noted as a difficult Captain to work for, with none of his first officers lasting more than six months in the job. His final first officer was Lieutenant Commander Joseph Shabalala. In the next 5 years the USS Odyssey performed admirably for Starfleet and the Federation. In 2370 AD Captain Keogh and the USS Odyssey arrived at Deep Space Nine, only to learn that Sisko had been kidnapped by the Jem'Hadar and the Dominion while on a trip to the Gamma Quadrant. Unloading most of the Odyssey crew on to the station he led a mission to rescue Sisko. During the battle that ensued between the Federation and Dominion forces, the Odyssey took a direct hit to one of her warp nacelles and was unable to go to warp. As the Starfleet forces began their retreat, a Jem'Hadar ship suicidally rammed the Odyssey's secondary hull and Captain Keogh and his crew died seconds later as the Odyssey exploded, making them the first of many Starfleet personnel to die in battle against the Dominion. Captain Keogh's sacrifice did allow for the successful retrieval of Sisko, who returned to Starfleet and became critical in defeating the Dominion during the war with the Alpha Quadrant powers.

Forming an empire approximately 10,000 light years long and 5,000 light years wide by the 34th century. Jereshti Tobacco: a lucrative trade good that is in heavy demand on many high-population worlds. The mildly-addictive tobacco plant only grows on the agricultural planet Jereshti. The world also holds a small colony of Othalli and boasts many exotic native life forms.
Juedy Cavallo: one of the very first humans to explore out of the Bajoran Wormhole, Jeudy was a former Starfleet officer and twelve years before the Dominion War occurred she accidently traversed the Wormhole, finding herself hopelessly lost in the Gamma Quadrant. She was using a warp-capable sloop at the time but she traded it in on Cerunnos for a much more capable exploration vessel. Luckily for Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets, Juedy was an explorer and she spent the next decade searching the area around the Wormhole exit for aliens, technology, and potential enemies. She perished in the Gamma Quadrant (by some unknown means) but she uploaded her findings repeatedly to several local planetary servers and when Starfleet came into the area (and after the destruction of the USS Odyssey) they automatically received her extensive intel updates. Starfleet was able to gain much information about the civilizations near the Wormhole because of her efforts.
Justria Star System: A triple-star system with over 80 planets, Justria has several fabulously wealthy mineral-rich asteroids belts (3 immense belts) and is the location of the Justria Wormhole Nexus. There are no habitable worlds located in Justria, nor any terraformable ones either, thus dozens of wheelworlds, cylworlds, rings, toroider habs, toroids, and orbital cols have been constructed over the last 200 years. Justria Prime is a red supergiant with a green stellar companion (Jacketh), and a distant red dwarf (the Jerrod System). Allied with the Dominion, it became an associate member in 2101 AD and has a significant military fleet.
Julian Navarro: A infamous pirate with a well-known reputation for personal duels, Julian is human and hails from the Gaia System. He is "Not A Nice Guy", trafficking in mostly illegal products and sentient slavery. Hauling around female or child captives doesn't bother him one whit, so if your lover or kid is missing, Navarro probably has his hand in the affair.

Several hundred asteroid colonies have been established in the outer fringes of the system, which sustains itself by mining various ores for export, primarily to nearby high-population worlds. Of particular interest are the ruins, artifacts, and anomalies discovered on numerous planetoids within the belt. None can be identified, and the intelligence behind them is unknown. Examples include a featureless 20-meter sphere of unknown alloy and purpose, pyramidal-sized buildings with no accessible entrances, and a 50-km asteroid which has been cored by some process which left only a ring of nickel iron with mirror-polished inner walls. It has been suggested that the artifacts are the product of an alien civilization inhabiting asteroids deeper within the Kurs Belt, but the theory remains unproven and speculative.

USS Odyssey (NCC-71832): the USS Odyssey (NCC-71832) was a Galaxy-class Federation starship, launched in 2364 from the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards at Mars, under the command of Captain Declan Keogh. The Odyssey was assigned a patrol of the Demilitarized Zone as its first mission. However, the Odyssey was forced to return to DS9 when news reached the station that Starfleet Commander Benjamin Sisko had been taken prisoner by the Jem'Hadar. The ships' weapons were also upgraded at while temporarily at DS9. After offloading all non-essential personnel onto the station, the Odyssey entered the Gamma Quadrant, accompanied by three runabouts from DS9. The task force was eventually engaged by the Jem'Hadar. Following the rescue of Commander Sisko and his team the task force began to withdraw, but the Odyssey was suicidally rammed by a Jem'Hadar fighter, destroying the starship. Ten years after the Dominion War ended, top strategists saw the destruction of the USS Odyssey was a tactical victory but a huge strategic loss for the Dominion since it forced a war with ALL the Alpha Quadrant powers, which it eventually lost.
