TWELVE BATTLESHIPS
The small, round Polypidlaq probe fell to Earth as the planet was nearing the end of its Second Global War; large portions of the world lay in ruins, with over 60 million civilian and military dead. Technology, however, was rapidly increasing on the planet enough to possibly make weapons useful in the coming interstellar conflict. Scans by the probe of the human military forces revealed only one potential item that could possibly harm the future Hol'losk invaders, the massive 16 inch guns of the dominant nations' battle-tested warships, its iron-clad and heavily armed battleships.
Decisions within the core mind of the probe were made; it descended to the human capital city of Washington, D.C. to begin initial contact procedures with the local humanoids....
